Bearing Replacements
Every heavy-duty axle will have a bearing on its end which allows it to spin freely and without friction. However, over time, these bearings can blow and cause problems. When a bearing blows, your axle will overheat as it’s being exposed to heightened levels of friction. If you notice that your wheel bearings are making noise, are smoking, or are hot to the touch, be sure to call Fleet Services Group right away. Bearings that aren’t treated properly can cause further damage to your heavy-duty vehicle.
Leaking Axle Grease & Gear Oil
Axles have greased bearings and lubricated shafts. If you notice that axle grease is leaking from around your axle seal, your bearings may not be properly lubricated. On the other hand, if you notice gear oil leaking from your differential plate, your axle shafts and differential gears may not be lubricated. Do keep in mind that your axle shafts and differential gears share the same lubricant, so they’ll both be affected in this scenario. If you notice either of these issues, be sure to book an appointment with Fleet Services Group right away. We’ll get your back up and running in no time.
